The ocean is the lifeblood of the planet, but because of climate change and pollution, the world’s oceans are being threatened.
Israeli startups are finding solutions to clean up the oceans, repopulate aquatic life, and stimulate the ocean’s ability to create more oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide.
Many people don’t realize that the oceans create 50% of the world’s oxygen. Gigablue, based in Caesarea and founded in 2022, has developed technology through AI that allows the oceans to capture and remove more carbon.
In addition, Gigablue stimulates the growth of phytoplankton, one of the most effective natural removers of carbon dioxide.
Carbon Blue, based in Tel Aviv, also tackles the carbon dioxide problem. In this case, it uses seawater’s natural properties to separate and mineralize dissolved carbon dioxide.
In addition, Carbon Blue’s technology can be used in conjunction with water desalination plants.
Algae can benefit health, but some varieties are toxic and increase carbon and methane emissions.
Blue Green Water Technologies combats harmful algae and reduces the carbon dioxide it produces.
Images of oil spills can be heartbreaking, especially when we comprehend the extent of the damage and destruction of ocean life.
Harbo Technologies keeps oil spills from spreading with technology known as the T-Fence.
The T-Fence can be used instantly, attached to rigs, ports, and ships, and deployed with 2,000 yards of bloom in 30 minutes.
Farm-raised fish is proposed as a solution to over-fishing, but instead, it has created new problems, including pollution and possible contamination.
Pure Blue Fish eliminates many of the issues created by fish farms with a closed-loop water circulation system that does not discharge wastewater into the environment.
The fish farm water is treated with microbial biotechnology to eliminate disease and contamination.
