‘The campaign against ISIS was intensive, and in much more than one country, with results which, in some of the places, are unimaginable.’

Former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot on Sunday revealed that Israel in 2015 had attacked the ISIS terror group, killing hundreds of its members, Ma’ariv reported.

Speaking at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), Eisenkot said that “ISIS knows the best how much the IDF operated in the Middle East – they paid a price of hundreds of casualties and injured. In 2015, there was an event at a specific location where we were asked to carry out an attack.

“We executed a very extensive attack, relatively speaking, and hit many ISIS operatives.

“The campaign against ISIS was intensive, and in much more than one country, with results which, in some of the places, are unimaginable regarding the types of operations and attacks carried out. Some of the activities passed under the radar,” he added.

“There aren’t many countries in the world which know how to locate targets the size of a podium insert a missile into a target within a radius of a thousand kilometers around Israel,” Eisenkot said.

“Our enemies saw this, the Russians saw it, the Americans saw it. The ones who know best how much the IDF operated across the Middle East are ISIS operatives, because they paid prices of hundreds of casualties, injuries and damages, and they knew who knew how to carry out these operations.”

Last year, Israeli security forces announced the arrests of suspects tied to ISIS, following a number of deadly ISIS-inspired attacks against Israelis.
