The visit would be the first by a senior Hungarian official since the swearing-in of the new Israeli government.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban will next week dispatch a special envoy to Israel for talks with the new Israeli government, Walla reported on Sunday.
Walla cited two Israeli sources who said that the envoy will be Gergely Gulyas. He heads the office of Prime Minister Orban, who in the past has stood by Israel in the face of international efforts to condemn Israel.
The report noted that Gulyas will be the first senior Hungarian official to visit Jerualem since the establishment of the new government in Israel.
Last week, the Knesset’s Israel-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group made an official visit to Budapest.
During the visit, Friendship Group Chair MK Israel Eichler (United Torah Judaism) and MKs Yifat Shasha Biton (National Unity Party), Simon Davidson (Yesh Atid) and Tsega Melaku (Likud) held meetings with members of the corresponding friendship group in the Hungarian National Assembly, as well as with members of the Foreign Affairs and Social Welfare committees.
Apart from the gatherngs at the Hungarian legislature, the Knesset delegation also held a brief meeting with Orban and extensive meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The MKs expressed their appreciation of Hungary’s support for Israel in various international forums and stressed their desire to strengthen relations between the Israeli and Hungarian parliaments.
They also addressed the security challenges facing Israel, with an emphasis on the tensions in Gaza and the Iranian threat.
The Knesset delegation also met with representatives of the Jewish communities in Hungary, visited a number of synagogues in Budapest, and attended an event marking the 75th anniversary of Israel’s independence, which was held with the participation of the Hungarian Minister of Justice, parliament members and other senior officials.
The visit to Hungary was the first by the Israel-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group since 2017, and the MKs invited their counterparts to visit Israel in the near future.
