Republican candidate Donald J. Trump is the winner in the 2016 US presidential elections and will become the 45th president of the United States of America in January.

Trump achieved a significant victory Tuesday, winning at least 306 electoral votes, including several states that analysts predicted would be taken by Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

In what was a historic victory, the Republicans also maintained their majority in both the Senate and Congress.

“We must reclaim our country’s destiny and dream big and bold and daring,” Trump stated in his victory speech, also promising to be the president for “all Americans” and urging the country to unite in the best interests of the U.S.

“President-elect Trump is a true friend of the State of Israel, and I look forward to working with him to advance security, stability and peace in our region,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, one of several Israelis to congratulate Trump, reminded the president-elect of his promise to move the American embassy to the Israeli capital.
