The Israel Police reported that two terrorists were killed and a third captured when security forces from the Border Police’s undercover unit together with IDF forces intervened overnight in the Aqbat Jabr refugee camp near Jericho and thwarted an attempt to enact an attack.

The forces acted under intelligence provided by the Shin Bet – the General Security Services – Israel’s anti-terror organization.

The two terrorists were killed after they opened fire on Israeli forces.

On Monday, the Shin Bet revealed it had foiled an attempt to kidnap an IDF soldier in the Binyamin Region of Samaria.

The Shin Bet’s operation, conducted last month in cooperation with the IDF and Israeli Police, resulted in the arrests of nine Palestinian Arabs. They were arrested on suspicion of being in involved in the creation of a Hamas terror cell in the village of Bidu, northwest of Jerusalem.

The suspects revealed upon interrogation that they had been planning a terror attack in which they would kidnap an IDF soldier. They also revealed they had been planning shooting and bombing attacks against IDF soldiers.

During the operation, a weapons-manufacturing lab was found and shut down, and weapons, raw materials for the creation of explosives, and plans for the execution of terror attacks confiscated.
