During a visit to a UN-financed school in Gaza by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, officials were sure to cover a map showing the State of Israel replaced by the non-existent state of Palestine in order not to reveal what it really teaches Palestinian children and to avoid causing a diplomatic incident.

A school financed and run by the United Nations in Gaza tried to hide its anti-Israel incitement during a visit by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Tuesday.

Employees covered a giant map that depicts the State of Israel as ‘Palestine,’ Israel’s Ynet news reported.

The school is run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) – a UN agency dedicated solely to the Palestinians.

The massive map, hung in a prominent spot, is titled “historical Palestine,” without mentioning Israel.

Ynet reported that an alert employee realized the embarrassment the map could cause Ban and that it might also create a diplomatic incident between the UN and the Palestinians, and therefore decided to cover the map with a white sheet.

Palestinians expressed rage at the move, and posted pictures of the uncovered map on social media.

Someone tagged the picture with the words “why was it covered?” “How will the world respect us if we don’t even respect the land which is rightfully ours?” another Palestinian from Gaza wrote.

“If they were afraid of hurting Ban Ki-moon’s feelings, why didn’t they just take him to a different school?” another one asked

UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East) spokesperson in Gaza, Adnan abu Hasna, claimed that “there was no covered up map during Ban’s press conference in Gaza.” The photos prove otherwise.

This is not the first time that a UN agency has been caught spreading anti-Israel propaganda. Jew hatred and incitement to violence continue to appear on the social media threads of teachers employed by the international body.

In October, several UNRWA employees were suspended, but not fired, for posts on social media inciting to violence and anti-Semitism.
