United with Israel is proud to sponsor a Chanukah party on a Hebron military base to honor the brave young men and women of the IDF who risk their lives to protect the people of Israel.

idf chanukah partyOn Wednesday evening, December 17, 2014, the second night of Chanukah, American and Israeli families will visit several IDF bases in the Hebron area to celebrate Chanukah and say Thank You to our beloved Israeli soldiers. These army bases are just a short distance from the ancient biblical city of Hebron, where the holy Cave of the Patriarchs is located.

Hebron has become a primary base for the launching of deadly terrorist operations. The abduction and brutal murder of three Israeli teenagers this past June took place in the Hebron area.

The event will feature music, dancing, pizza, Chanukah sufganiot (jelly donuts), special presentations and,  of course, the lighting of the Chanukah Menorah. The soldiers will light a truly amazing Menorah that was created from the remains of Hamas rockets that exploded in Israel. Nearly 20,000 rockets have been fired from Gaza since the second intifada in 2001. An Israeli artist has transformed these missiles of terror into something of unique beauty and light!

givati idf soldiersThe soldiers who serve in Hebron are located in one of the most dangerous areas in all of Israel. Hebron, the biblical city in which our holy patriarchs and matriarchs are buried, is also know as the “first capital of Israel.” Not only did Abraham and Sarah settle in Hebron, but King David was anointed there as King of Israel and Hebron served as the capital for the first seven years of his reign. Today, Hebron has become a hotbed of ‘nationalistic’ fervor and a central breeding ground of Palestinian violence and terror.

The soldiers who will join us to celebrate Chanukah are stationed throughout different strategic points in the Hebron region. They include border patrol officers and monitors who track enemy movements, as well as superior fighting and counter-terrorism intelligence units.

The young men and women serving this dangerous area form an integral part of Israel’s front line against terror emanating from Judea and Samaria and have prevented numerous terror attacks against Israelis. They greatly deserve our expressions of thanks!

They are outside most of the day and get very cold in the winter, just like we all would!

A special ceremony will be held in honor of the soldiers in which ‘Warm Winter’ care packages from ‘United with Israel’ supporters will be given to the soldiers. Personal letters from admirers all around the world will be presented as expressions of gratitude and unity.

idf chanukah partyIf you are interested in attending, buses will be leaving from Ramat Bet Shemesh at approximately 2:00pm. The buses are ‘protected’ and will have a military escort to and from the base. Due to security concerns, private vehicles will not be allowed on the military base. The cost to attend is $18 per person (or 60 NIS) and includes transportation plus a light supper with the soldiers. Since spaces are very limited, payment must be made at the time of reserving your spot.
