U.S. Central Command completed another five-hour wave of strikes across Iran late Monday, hitting military targets from Bushehr to Bandar Abbas in an effort to further weaken Tehran’s ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
CENTCOM said the operation ended at 10:15 p.m. ET on July 13 after American forces struck targets in Bushehr, Chabahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa and Bandar Abbas.
The strikes targeted Iranian coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities using precision munitions.
The operation marked the third consecutive night of U.S. strikes against Iran.
“At 4:45 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command began launching the third consecutive night of strikes against Iran, at the commander in chief’s direction,” CENTCOM said earlier in the evening.
“These strikes will continue imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrade their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.”
Shortly before the operation began, President Donald Trump warned that Iran would face heavy attacks through the night and into the following day.
“We’re going to hit them very hard tonight, and we’re going to hit them hard tomorrow, and there’s not a damn thing they can do about it,” Trump told Salem News Channel host Hugh Hewitt.
Trump also identified Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain site as a possible target.
“Pickaxe is a possible target for a nice big fat shot right in the front door,” he said.
The president dismissed Iran’s threats, saying, “They have nothing going other than they have big mouths.”
“I got to know them, and they’re stone-cold crazy people,” he added.
CENTCOM said more than 50,000 U.S. service members are currently deployed across the Middle East and remain “vigilant, lethal, and ready.”
