Hundreds of thousands of Israelis make the annual trek to the Tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in Meron to celebrate Lag B’Omer.

Join Yishai Fleisher and his brother Joshua Fleisher (videographer) as they share a previous year’s pilgrimage to Meron.

Meron, a northern Israeli village, is the site of the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, a first-century rabbi.

The Lag B’Omer celebration, marking the passing of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, was instituted by the great spiritual leader himself on his deathbed. It is marked by torches, song and feasting.

Bonfires are lit across the country to mark the occasion.
