In honor of Yom Yerushalayim, or Jerusalem Day, a talented musical duo released a video expressing their profound love for the magical city.
Having moved to the Israeli capital from Manchester, England, almost a decade ago, the Portnoy Brothers, a British-Israeli musical duo, feel a deep love and connection to Jerusalem, the eternal Jewish capital.
In 2017, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem’s reunification, they decided it was about time to release a special dedication to their beloved city, describing how much it means to them. The result is a stunning musical video based on “Jerusalem of Gold,” a famous song by Naomi Shemer, Israel’s “first lady of Israeli song and poetry,” expressing 2000 years of the Jewish People’s longing to return to Jerusalem. The final verse was added after the 1967 Six Day War, when the city was reunited.
Enjoy this beautiful, moving rendition!
