This rising medical star is not only fighting coronavirus on the front lines, he’s educating others about how the illness works with his illustrations and drawings.

While Dr. Momen Abbassi works in a Jerusalem emergency room treating COVID-19 patients all day, he stays up until the wee hours of the night creating illustrations that educate others about the virus.

“I always try to pick up ideas for cartoons from work,” explains the young Arab-Israeli doctor who fell in love with drawing in medical school.

Dr. Abassi’s illustrations help him decompress from working in the ER at Jerusalem’s Hadassah Hospital on the front lines of the coronoa battle, which can be “stressful, scary and a very big responsibility.”
