In 1917, for the first time in modern history, a major political power publicly supported the creation of a “national home” for the Jewish people in the Land of Israel.
A little over 101 years ago, the Balfour Declaration was penned. The declaration confirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to and recognition of the Jews’ right to a state in their ancestral homeland.
Through this document, Israel’s re-birth became a reality for Jews already living there, and for Jews in the Diaspora who were seeking to go home.
Today, we celebrate and thank Arthur Balfour for writing the Balfour Declaration and believing in Israel!
