Former Saudi intelligence chief and ambassador to the U.S. Prince Turki Al-Faisal said the JCPOA will not stop Iran from gaining nuclear weapons.
US President Joe Biden has made it clear that he wants to recommit the U.S. to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) from which his predecessor withdrew.
In a recent interview, former Saudi intelligence chief and ambassador to the U.S. Prince Turki Al-Faisal warned that rejoining the deal will not stop Iran from gaining nuclear weapons.
The fact that Iran continued to enrich uranium even while the nuclear deal was in effect proves that what it really wants is to obtain nuclear weapons, he noted.
He also cautioned that rejoining the deal may cause a nuclear arms race in the region if countries feel the need to protect themselves.
