Iranian proxies in Iraq openly threaten the U.S. and Israel, vowing assassinations, rocket attacks, and other nefarious plots to harm the enemies of their twisted ideology.
Iraq is one of a handful of nations in the Middle East in which Iran controls terror proxies and militias ready, willing, and able to do the Islamic Republic’s bidding. These proxies include Hamas in Gaza, the Houthis in Yemen, and Hezbollah, which controls Lebanon to a large extent and runs roughshod over government regimes in Syria and Iraq.
Hashem Al-Kindi, an Iraqi researcher, recently told Al-Diyar TV that in 2009 Hezbollah identified U.S. President Barack Obama at the Baghdad airport and had the ability to assassinate him using drones, but refrained from killing him because the Iraqi president was right next to him.
