While no Palestinian group officially claimed responsibility for the rocket fire, Islamic Jihad is believed to be behind the attack.
Palestinian terrorists attacked southern Israel on Monday, following violent riots by Muslims in Jerusalem during annual Ramadan violence directed at Israelis.
Israel downed the rocket with the Iron Dome defense system. Early Tuesday, Israeli fighter jets reacted with airstrikes in southern Gaza Strip, pounding a Hamas weapons manufacturing site.
Hours earlier, the leader of the Islamic Jihad terror group, which boasts an arsenal of rockets, had issued a brief, cryptic threat to Jews in Israel.
