Fawzia Amin Sido, a Yazidi girl abducted by ISIS at age 11 and later held captive by Hamas, has been freed by Israeli forces after a complex, months-long rescue operation coordinated with U.S. officials, authorities confirmed Thursday.
Now 21, Fawzia was reunited with her family in Iraq, a powerful moment captured on video as she embraced her loved ones after years of separation.
Despite being physically well, Iraqi officials report that Fawzia still bears deep psychological scars from her captivity. This rescue, the result of extensive collaboration among Iraqi, U.S., and Israeli forces, finally ended her harrowing decade-long ordeal.
