Crowds of people ran in panic in the seaside city of Nice Thursday night as a huge white truck was chasing down pedestrians celebrating Bastille Day, France’s national holiday.
The driver was shot dead by police, but not in time to prevent massive casualties.
By morning, the death toll reached 84, and about 100 people were wounded. “All of France is under the threat of Islamic terrorists,” a somber President Francois Hollande said.
