Israeli healthcare workers are helping not only Israeli hearing-impaired children, but also Palestinians, bringing them to Jerusalem for advanced surgery.
Physicians at the Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital in Jerusalem use sophisticated technology to surgically install cochlear implants in young Palestinian patients. The hospital is known for the diversity of its staff as well as its patients.
The staff members follow up with the children after surgery with additional visits to properly program the external processors that capture sounds and convert them to electric signals.
Many young Palestinian children have benefited from these treatments over the years, allowing them to overcome deafness. Watch as Mohammed, one such child, hears sounds for the first time in his life after undergoing the surgery.
