Despite threats of violence against its athletes and ongoing hostility from crowds, Israel completed its most successful Olympic Games to date, securing seven medals: one gold, one bronze, and five silver.
Tom Reuveny, who won gold in sailing, spoke about the intense emotions of competing for his country during such a turbulent time.
He honored the heroes who have sacrificed for Israel’s security, including his brother, currently fighting in Gaza, and expressed how meaningful it was to bring home a gold medal.
“Winning this medal for my brother meant everything to me.”
