Assem Barghouti was captured Tuesday morning in a pre-dawn raid by the IDF, the Shin Bet and Israel’s Yamam, a counter-terrorist unit.

On Tuesday morning, Israeli security forces captured Assem Barghouti, the Palestinian terrorist responsible for the deadly shooting attack on December 13 at the Givat Assaf junction in Samaria, north of Jerusalem.

Soldiers Yuval Mor Yosef, 20, and Yosef Cohen, 19, were killed in the attack. Civilian Shira Sabag, 20 who was seriously injured, was released from hospital. Soldier Netanel Felber, 21, remains in critical condition in a drug-induced coma.

Barghouti had also taken part in the Samaria shooting at the Ofra Junction last month, in which seven Israelis – including a pregnant woman who subsequently lost her child – were wounded.
