While the Holy Land has precious few rivers, Israelis are increasingly interested in the sport of rowing, and have even brought home medals in the Olympics and Paralympics!

After young Daniel Amichai Marcus’ tragic passing in 1993, his family wanted to do something special to promote his dream of representing Israel at the Olympics in rowing. As a result, they partnered with the Tel Aviv Foundation and spent years widening the Yarkon River to build one of the most beautifully designed buildings in Tel Aviv.

Now, the Daniel Rowing Centre on the banks of the Yarkon River is a place that Israelis come to compete, heal from injuries and enjoy the beautiful sport of rowing.
