With the festival of Sukkot in full swing, you might be wondering about the actual sukkahs, the booth-like structures that the Jewish people eat, sleep, and spend much of the holiday in.

These booths are makeshift structures, usually from wood or canvas, with roofs made of schach – organic material grown from the earth such as bamboo shoots, branches, or palm fronds.
