Around 500,000 people gathered in Istanbul on New Year’s Day for a large pro-Palestinian demonstration, waving Palestinian and Turkish flags and voicing support for Gaza. Braving near-freezing temperatures, marchers made their way to the Galata Bridge, chanting slogans including, “We won’t remain silent, we won’t forget Palestine.”
