While the NY Times calls the Jewish village of Yitzhar a “bastion of extremists on the hilltops,” the town in reality boasts the highest percentage of kidney donors in Israel.

The media rarely misses an opportunity to vilify Jewish inhabitants of Judea and Samaria, stamping labels on them like “violent extremists” and “radical religious fanatics.” The truth, however, is very different.

One such village, Yitzhar, gets bashed as a hotbed of “Jewish hardliners,” when in reality it is home to large, loving religious families, dedicated to the values in the Torah, including kindness to strangers.

An indication of the village’s commitment to fulfilling this Biblical mandate can be seen in the number of residents who have donated their kidneys to complete strangers. Their stories are beautiful and their kindness is contagious!
