The leading surgeon in one of Jerusalem’s busiest hospitals reflects the diversity and civil rights embodied by the Jewish state.

Professor Ahmed Eid, who grew up in a small town east of Nazareth in Northern Israel, is the only member of his large family to pursue higher education.

Ahmed studied hard and received scholarships, achieving higher and higher goals and eventually earning his position as Head of General Surgery in Jerusalem’s Mt. Scopus hospital.

Meet the Israeli Arab honored by the Jewish state with the lighting of an Independence Day torch in recognition of his years of devoted service to the State of Israel.
