Sen. Marco Rubio blasted the ‘foreign policy elite’ for its ‘unreal’ treatment of David Friedman, Trump’s choice for ambassador to Israel.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), questioning President Donald Trump’s nominee for US ambassador to Israel last week, said that he found the “ordeal” that David Friedman had been put through at the Senate Foreign Relations hearing to be “unreal.”
Anti-Israel protesters interrupted, waving Palestinian flags. Senators grilled Friedman over statements he had made as a private citizen against J Street and the two-state solution.
J Street had invited senior Palestinian official Saeb Erekat, who is on record for defending violence against Israeli civilians, to address their conference, Rubio reminded the assembled.
Rubio also defended Friedman’s logic in questioning whether the time was ripe for a two state solution, which would be feasible in “an ideal and perfect world.”
