Israeli archaeologists recently exposed a rare 2,000-year-old route pilgrims walked to reach the Holy Temple in Jerusalem’s Old City.

During biblical times, Jerusalem’s Pilgrimage Road served around 2.5 million Jews visiting the Holy Temple during the three primary festivals, in addition to other times during the year.

The route was recently discovered and carefully excavated, revealing stones smoothed down by the sandals of pilgrims on their way to offer sacrifices and prayers.
