Tens of thousands of Jews gathered on the Sukkot holiday at Jerusalem’s Western Wall, arriving from all over the world to receive the Birkat Kohanim (Priestly Blessing).
Members of the Jewish priestly class, the Kohanim, blessed the Jewish people at Jerusalem’s Western Wall, which sits at the base of the Jewish Temple Mount.
The Kohanim have been delivering this blessing, derived from from Numbers 6:23-27, for thousands of years.
The blessing occurs in the Torah when Aaron and his sons are commanded to bless the Jewish people as follows: “May the LORD bless you and guard you, May the LORD make His face shed light upon you and be gracious unto you, May the LORD lift up His face unto you and give you peace.”
