Firefighters entered the area and evacuated the entire community of Beit Meir, situated just off the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway 1, working overnight to gain control of the situation.

Several suspects reportedly fled the area as the fires began to spread.

Police arrested one person and are searching for the others.

There were no fatalities.

Arab arsonists have been setting fires all over the country this week. The northern city of Haifa was the hardest hit on Thursday, and 85,000 people were evacuated.
