The Dona Gracia Hotel & Museum in Tiberias is the only hotel museum in the world.
An uplifting cultural experience, the museum tells the story of Dona Gracia (1510-1569), one of the wealthiest Jewish women in Renaissance Europe.
A courageous, politically influential philanthropist, she saved hundreds of secret Jews from the Inquisition.
The museum is aptly located in Tiberias (“T’verya”in Hebrew), as she had attempted to establish a Jewish settlement there with the blessing of the Turkish sultan.
It stresses the involvement and leadership of women in general and Jewish history and the centrality of Tiberias to the history of the Jewish people.
