Born in Poland, Dov Golebowicz and his family moved to Australia when he was eight, one week before the Nazi invasion of Poland which kicked off World War 2.
Dov then joined a Zionist Youth program, where he met his wife, Lily. In 1955, they settled in Israel in kibbutz Nirim, a burgeoning community in the newly minted country.
He then detailed his harrowing 10-hour ordeal as Hamas terrorists ravaged communities in southern Israel. His son’s improvised shelter lock prevented terrorists from reaching him and kept him safe until IDF soldiers secured the area.
He survived the Holocaust. Then he survived October 7. pic.twitter.com/CuoPuERQ7R
