Recovered drone pieces matched previously-collected examples from Iranian one-way attack UAVs.
A US Centcom investigation of the recent attack on the Mercer Street confirmed that Iran was responsible for the kamikaze drone strike.
An investigative team from the USS Ronald Reagan, which responded to the attack, found that drone that killed the ship’s captain and a security guard had carried military grade explosives. Chemical tests indicated the UAV had been rigged to cause injury and destruction. Two other drones missed the boat and crashed into the sea.
