“The people of Israel should know that the battles they fought on that very ground are worthy and meaningful and important for all time,” Pompeo said, referring to the Golan Heights, over which Trump declared recognition of Israeli sovereignty.
Following his official visit to the Old City of Jerusalem and Trump’s historic recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is continuing on to Lebanon, where the US “will redouble our efforts to protect all that is important to Israel, to America and indeed to the world,” he vowed in a joint statement with Netanyahu.
Visibly emotional, Netanyahu expressed gratitude to the Trump administration for its profound friendship and support and, as it happened to be the Jewish holiday of Purim, he referred to the events as a “Purim miracle.”
