Fatah Central Committee member Al-Haj Ismail Jaber, speaking on official Palestinian Authority (PA) TV, made a point of clarifying that it has never, ever recognized Israel.
Fatah, the PA’s ruling party, is headed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
The newscaster had asked Jaber about the widely reported revocation of the PA’s recognition of Israel, to which he stated adamantly that there never was such recognition, despite the fact that Fatah is a part of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).
In 1993, the PLO signed the Oslo Peace Accords in Washington, according to which the PLO officially recognized the State of Israel.
