Trump recently cited Israel as his strongest evidence that a border wall in the U.S. can stop illegal immigration in its tracks.

Amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s battle with Democratic rivals over funding a wall to close the nation’s southern border, he relied on Israel as his strongest proof that “walls work.”

“Democrats are lying when they say they don’t. In Israel the Wall is 99.9% successful. Will not be any different on our Southern Border! Hundreds of Billions saved!” Trump tweeted.

Trump’s reference to Israel’s security barriers are intended to evoke the massive structures the Jewish state has erected, which have successfully thwarted infiltration by Palestinian terrorists, stopped illegal immigration, and prevented attacks by Islamist terror groups operating in Egypt and Lebanon.

Can the U.S. learn something from Israel’s security barriers?
