Since the establishment of the modern Jewish state, Israelis have been yearning for peace and have made several offers, only to be rejected.

The Hebrew word for peace is “Shalom,” which also means hello and goodbye. In fact, the word “Shalom” is mentioned 240 times in the Hebrew bible.

So basic is peace to the Jewish worldview that it’s how we greet our fellow human beings, notes historian and author Ken Spiro.

Israel is the most threatened state in the world, dealing constantly with terrorism and warfare. Yet there is no people that strives for peace more than the Hebrew nation.
