After a fourth explosion rocked a military site in Iraq, Baghdad is pointing a finger at Israel, claiming IDF drones are destroying Iranian-linked weapons depots.
Iraq has permitted an Iranian-backed paramilitary group called the PMF to operate freely within its borders, assisting government forces in confronting the ISIS terror group. By establishing outposts in Iraq, Iran has placed troops it directs one step closer to Israeli soil.
In the past, Israel has made it clear that the presence of Iranian troops in Syria represent a red line, striking Iranian positions repeatedly with a steady stream of airstrikes.
Whether or not Israel is following the same strategy in Iraq by destroying Iranian military assets and personnel remains to be seen, however, the airstrikes at this point don’t appear to be letting up.
