Are First Amendment protections a remnant of a bygone era? Do we still have the right to freedom of speech? Lest we think the US is the only place freedom of speech is in peril, we need only look at the plight of individuals in other countries that tried to exercise this right. Unfortunately, we all know what happened to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo massacre in France. In the Middle East, Israeli-Arab Mohammed Zoabi tried to speak out in defense of Israel, causing him to flee from the Holy Land for five months, fearing for his life. And there are many other examples we can give.
