The Torah portion of “Matot” (Numbers 30:2-32:42) discusses vows and oaths in Jewish law..

While the vow of a man was always binding, the vow of a woman could often be annulled by her father or her husband.

This was seen as a way to protect women from having to fulfill overly difficult commitments. However, the vow of a widow or a divorcee was binding once uttered.

While this was just one example, marital status makes a very big difference in many facets of Torah law.

Rabbi Enkin presents a discussion about marriage in Judaism — both the practical aspects and the philosophical ones.

You may be in for some marital surprises so watch this webinar with your spouse!
