“Israel absolutely has a sovereign right to defend itself and we support them in whatever efforts they have in order to defend themselves,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders stated.

The US affirmed Israel’s right to defend itself and strike at Iran following an attack by the Iranian Quds forces on Israeli soil, which prompted a wide-scale response by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) against Iranian targets in Syria.
Reacting to reports on the confrontation, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Fox News Wednesday night that the incident “just further shows that the Iranian regime cannot be trusted. Israel absolutely has a sovereign right to defend itself and we support them in whatever efforts they have in order to defend themselves.”
“But again, I think this activity and this action is just further demonstration that the Iranian regime cannot be trusted and another good reminder that the president made the right decision to get out of the Iran deal,” she added, referring to President Donald Trump’s announcement earlier this week that the US was withdrawing from the nuclear deal with Iran.
Iran’s Quds forces launched a barrage of rockets at IDF bases on the Golan Heights in northern Israel on Wednesday night, the first Iranian attack on Israeli soil in history, an assault that prompted an extensive IAF attack on dozens of Iranian targets in Syria.
Israel has repeatedly warned that it will not accept an Iranian military presence in Syria, which it views as a direct threat to its security.
The IDF has been anticipating such an act of aggression from Iran, and just the previous night it carried out a preemptive strike against Iranian missile that were pointed towards Israel. The IDF considers its action on Wednesday night as highly successful, while the Iranian attack is viewed as a total failure.
