In a shocking report, ABC News aired an interview with Mahmoud Bassal, presenting him as a Gaza “civil defense official.”
What they failed to mention is that Bassal is not a neutral civilian; he is an active Hamas operative, serving in the terrorist group’s military wing and acting as a spokesperson for the Hamas-run Civil Defense.
This was not a small oversight. This was the whitewashing of a terrorist.
The Gaza “civil defense” is not independent. Like every institution in Gaza, it operates under the full control of Hamas, the same terrorist group that butchered over 1,200 Israelis and kidnapped more than 250 people on October 7, 2023.
When Bassal speaks, he speaks for Hamas. His words are not humanitarian. They are part of a calculated propaganda strategy.
ABC News interviewed an active Hamas operative — and didn’t tell viewers. Mahmoud Bassal, presented as “Gaza’s civil spokesperson,” is part of Hamas’s military wing. When the media hides terrorist affiliations, it stops informing and starts enabling. https://t.co/7FJ8kpuA3S

ABC News has a responsibility to the public — and it failed. By hiding Bassal’s terrorist role, they misled millions of viewers, blurred the line between civilian and combatant, and allowed Hamas’ messaging to go unchallenged.
That’s not journalism. That’s complicity.
Western media must not become a megaphone for genocidal organizations. Americans deserve the truth, especially when it comes to terrorism. This kind of deception is not just unethical. It’s dangerous.
We cannot let media institutions launder Hamas operatives into trusted sources.
