In an alarming development, educators in San Francisco public schools have been spotted wearing keffiyehs—a symbol closely associated with Hamas and its violent anti-Israel agenda.
This choice of attire is not a harmless fashion statement but a blatant endorsement of a group responsible for heinous terrorist acts, including the barbaric slaughter of over 1,200 innocent people on October 7, 2023, and the taking of 251 hostages, including small children. It is unknown how many among the 101 remaining captives are still alive.
The keffiyeh, popularized by infamous terrorists like Yasser Arafat and Leila Khaled, represents violence and hatred.
Allowing this symbol on school campuses creates a hostile environment for Jewish students and faculty, undermining SFUSD’s stated commitment to inclusivity and anti-racism.
Confederate flags and Nazi symbols are banned in schools—and rightfully so. Why is an emblem of Hamas terrorism tolerated?
Such attire sends a chilling message to Jewish students that their safety, identity, and history are not valued.
This display of pro-Hamas sentiment is not only an affront to the victims of terrorism but also a disturbing reflection of rising antisemitism in schools nationwide.
We must demand accountability from SFUSD. Support for terrorism and Jew hatred has no place in our educational system!

Subject: Immediate Attention Needed: Keffiyeh-Wearing Educators at SFUSD
To Whom It May Concern:
I am appalled to learn that educators in your district have been wearing keffiyehs—a symbol of Hamas terrorism. This is deeply threatening to Jewish students and faculty, and it goes against SFUSD’s commitment to inclusivity.
I urge you to ban keffiyehs on campus, investigate the involved staff, and implement training against antisemitism immediately. Tolerating this behavior makes SFUSD complicit in hate. Action must be taken now.
Sincerely,
