How did more than 30 of the most popular Nazi propaganda film titles produced in 1933–45 find their way onto one of the world’s largest retail platforms in 2021?

Americans Against Antisemitism was alerted to the presence of Nazi propaganda films that were available for hard-copy purchase and streaming on Amazon’s retail and Prime video platforms, the group announced in a press release Tuesday.

After launching an investigation, Americans Against Antisemitism discovered that it wasn’t just one Nazi propaganda film that was being shown in its entirety, unedited, without any disclaimer or editorial comment, but more than 30.

The Nazi productions range from such “masterpieces” as Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will, Victory of Faith, and Olympia, all of which glorified Hitler, Aryanism, and Nazism, to the downright dangerously antisemitic films such as, The Eternal Jew, Jud Suss, and The Rothschilds’ Shares in Waterloo, Americans Against Antisemitism reported.

“It’s beyond unacceptable,” stated Dov Hikind, Americans Against Antisemitism founder and the son of Holocaust survivors.

“I don’t believe this is an issue that needs debating, it’s so clear-cut, so indefensible that we expect Amazon to correct this horrifying hate-for-profit scheme immediately. Frankly, they should be ashamed of themselves for allowing so much hate to literally stream through their platforms. There is no excuse for it, I don’t care what they say,” he said.

This isn’t the first instance of Amazon profiting off Nazi-related products, Americans Against Antisemitism notes.

The group asks: How did more than 30 of the most popular Nazi propaganda film titles produced in 1933–45 find their way onto one of the world’s largest retail platforms in 2021?

Does Amazon think Mein Kampf without editorial comment and context is harmful but not The Eternal Jew, Jud Suss, and The Rothschilds’ Shares in Waterloo?

“It’s utterly inexcusable, and needs to be rectified immediately with the removal of these vile titles from Amazon’s platforms,” Hikind said. “Otherwise, as it stands, Amazon is presently the world’s largest purveyor of original Nazi propaganda films—something Hitler and Goebbels would surely have been grateful for.”

To date, Amazon has not responded to Americans Against Antisemitism’s inquiry.
