Iran ISIS cartoon

After ridiculing the Holocaust with cartoons, Iranian organizations are now equating Israel and the US with ISIS, using the same method of denunciation.

In February 2006, in response to the publishing of 12 cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed in a Danish newspaper in the name of freedom of speech, Iranian newspaper Hamshahri launched the International Holocaust Competition. This year, in the wake of the massacre by Islamic terrorists of journalists at Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine headquarters in Paris in January and the demonstration for freedom of speech that followed, the Iranian House of Cartoon and the Sarcheshmeh Cultural Complex in Tehran created “The 2nd International Holocaust Cartoons Contest.” In both cases, the purpose was to mock what they termed “Western hypocrisy on free speech.”

Most recently, IRNA news agency reports, Iran’s House of Cartoon organized the Daesh International Cartoon and Caricature Contest, which opened at several of Tehran’s cultural centers on Sunday. (Daesh is the Arabic acronym for Islamic State, or ISIS.) A total of 280 cartoons were selected from 800 submissions from over 40 countries, including Brazil, Australia, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The anti-ISIS exhibit quickly became an anti-Israel, anti-US event, with many cartoons characterizing Israel and the US as partners to the heinous ISIS crimes against humanity. Other drawings portray the two countries as being responsible for the advent of ISIS in the Middle East.

There are plans to hold the exhibit in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon as well.

One contestant, graphic artist Massoud Shoajaei Tabatabaii, told Iran’s PressTV that the contest was being held “in order to reveal the true nature of Daesh.”

“Daesh tries to associate itself with Islam but in essence it has no idea about Islam,” he said.

Shi’ite Iran is directly threatened by ISIS, which has vowed to kill all non-Sunni Muslims, whom they deem to be apostates.

German journalist Jurgen Todenhoefer, the first Western journalist to have had an up-close encounter with ISIS, was told by one of the terrorists that they want to slaughter all the Shi’ites, saying, “150 million, 200 million or 500 million, it does not matter to us, we will kill them all.”

Sign the Petition to Stop a Nuclear Iran

The US Congress must ensure that sanctions against Iran remain in force until the nuclear threat is completely eliminated.

I strongly oppose easing sanctions before the nuclear threat from Iran has been eliminated. Allowing Iran to enrich uranium without being subject to 'anytime, anywhere' inspections is extremely dangerous and unacceptable. Iran's nuclear program must be stopped.
