Great news for Israeli families! Their country was ranked third best in the 2016 InterNations Family Life Index.

Israel was listed as the third-best place to raise a family in the 2016 InterNations Family Life Index.

The country rose by one place from last year, having performed particularly well in terms of childcare options.

“Indeed, 81 percent of expat parents are happy with the childcare options and they are similarly positive about the education options, with 84 percent expressing general satisfaction. The quality of education is also considered favorably by the vast majority of expat parents in Israel (84 percent).”

“Possibly surprising to some, family well-being is another positive in Israel. The country is ranked first for children’s health in the Family Well-Being subcategory, with 56 percent of expat parents saying it is very good. Families there are also made to feel welcome — 69 percent consider the attitude towards families with children to be excellent,” the Index stated.

The Family Life Index ranks countries according to results in the following subcategories: availability of childcare and education, cost of childcare and education, quality of education and family well-being, as well as childcare and education options. This year, a question regarding available leisure activities for kids was also included.

In order to be considered, each country required over 30 survey respondents raising children abroad who rated the above factors on a scale of one to seven.

In total, 45 countries are included in this index. Finland came in first, and the Czech Republic second. The US was in 32nd place, down from 25th last year. Brazil came in last.
