Ben Gurion Airport

Once again, Israel’s primary airport has been listed as one of the best airports in the world.

The prestigious Travel and Leisure magazine ranked Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport as one of the top 10  international airports in its “World’s Best Awards” survey.

This year, Ben Gurion Airport was ranked eighth, ahead of Amsterdam’s Schiphol and Abu Dhabi’s international airport.

The survey, which is based on the magazine’s readers’ rankings, rated international airports outside of the US on the criteria of access, check-in and security, restaurants and bars, shopping and design.

In 2016 alone, around 18 million passengers passed through Ben-Gurion’s terminals.

Travel and Leisure is one of the most respected publications for the upscale traveler and the magazine’s annual “World’s Best Awards” provides an opportunity for readers to weigh in on their travel experiences around the globe and share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise lines, spas, airlines and more.

In early 2018, Ben Gurion will be joined by the Ilan and Assaf Ramon International Airport, will open in the Timna Valley in southern Israel. The airport will have a potential capacity of over two million passengers and will serve as an international gateway to Eilat and the south.

For the fifth year running, Singapore’s Changi Airport took the top spot in the list.

Most of the airports on the list are located in Asia and the Middle East, with only two European airports achieving top rankings.
