Israel will reportedly ask the U.S. to approve sending its cutting-edge air defense laser to Saudi Arabia.

Israel’s “Iron Beam” laser-based air defense system intercepts incoming rockets, eliminating aerial threats with unprecedented accuracy at a fraction of the cost of the original Iron Dome system.

According to a report by Israel’s Channel 12 news, the Jewish state intends to ask U.S. President Joe Biden to approve a deal to send the air defense system to Israel’s allies in the Arab world.

Israel also seeks to send it Saudi Arabia, Channel 12 reported.

Saudi Arabia does not currently maintain official diplomatic ties with Israel, despite persistent rumors that this step could be taken in the near future.

Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, seek Israel’s assistance to confront the Iranian threat, which includes armed drones, missiles, and potentially nuclear weapons in the future.

Among the nations in the region that may form an alliance to confront Iran are Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.

On Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz mentioned the possibility of a “breakthrough” in discussions with Arab neighbors during Biden’s upcoming visit, which is slated for July.

The state-of-the-art Iron Beam laser system is “capable of firing laser beams that intercept incoming UAVs, mortars, rockets and anti-tank missiles,” said Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in April.

“It’s a game changer,” the prime minister explained, calling it “the world’s first energy-based weapons system that has proven to actually work.”

“The Iron Beam’s interceptions are silent, they’re invisible and they only cost around $3.50,” he added. “We are turning the tables on terror.”
