The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) announced it will not support Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) in her August primary.

Omar will compete against Antone Melton-Meaux, who has blasted the anti-Israel congresswoman in the past for her anti-Semitic statements.

“JDCA will not be supporting Rep. Omar in this election. End of story,” executive director Halie Soifer told JNS this week.

Melton-Meaux is a lawyer who established his own mediation firm and has criticized Omar’s anti-Israel and anti-Semitic rhetoric in the past.

“Omar has made statements that have been reckless and harmful to the Jewish community,” said Melton-Meaux, Jewish Insider reported.

“I have spent time with the Jewish community and have met with Jewish leaders, and there’s a deep sense of betrayal by her actions and displeasure with the way that she has handled herself in the process with regard to the residents in this district,” he added.

Melton-Meaux also opposes the anti-Israel BDS movement, which seeks Israel’s destruction, unlike Omar.
