After a brutal shooting on Tuesday in Brooklyn, New York police searched for a man who ranted against minorities online, including YouTube videos fixated on Jews.

On Tuesday, a gunman indiscriminately shot passengers in the New York subway system, opening fire in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn. The attack left over 10 people wounded and police launched a search for a “person of interest” named Frank James, based on evidence collected at the scene.
After James’ name was released in connection to the attack, reports surfaced about his troubling trail of threatening YouTube videos.
According to Rolling Stone, “one of James’ most egregiously racist videos” was titled “They Hate Jew” and was posted to YouTube in 2017. In the video, James accuses Jews of “contempt for Blacks” and claims that “Jews obviously haven’t learned [expletive]” from the Holocaust.
“You know, it hasn’t humbled them in the slightest,” he says, adding, “Those [expletive] don’t contribute to [expletive] to life on this earth but [expletive], piss, pollution and death and destruction.”
James also fantasizes about murdering a Latino man in the video, whom he accuses of holding him back in his career.
Investigators say the 62-year-old man also “railed against the city’s mayor Eric Adams,” reported the Associated Press.
During the shooting in Brooklyn, the gunman used smoke grenades and used a 9 mm handgun to fire over 30 shots, injuring a number of people caught in the attack.
“I’m just grateful to be alive,” said passenger Jordan Javier.
“The shooter fled in the chaos, leaving behind the gun, extended magazines, a hatchet, detonated and undetonated smoke grenades, a black garbage can, a rolling cart, gasoline and the key to a U-Haul van,” reported AP.
In 2019, nearby Jersey City was rocked by an antisemitic shooting that left six people dead at a kosher market.
One of the perpetrators of that attack was named David Anderson, a “one-time follower of the Black Hebrew Israelite movement,” reported NBC New York. Anderson was killed at the kosher market in an exchange of fire with police.
In 2021, another follower of the Black Hebrew Israelite sect, which has no connection to conventional Jewish communities or traditional Judaism, ran over people with his SUV at a Christmas parade in Wisconsin, killing five people.
According to the Anti-Defamation League, the Black Hebrew Israelite sect espouses the view that “Jews are liars and false worshipers of God.”
The Rolling Stone report detailing James’ YouTube videos about Jews made no mention of the the Black Hebrew Israelite sect, nor has evidence surfaced that James was connected to it.
