In an interview with Iranian state television on Sunday, Putin aide Alexander Prokhanov said that Islamic State (ISIS) is a byproduct of US policies in the Middle East and that Mossad agents were training their fighters in Syria and Iraq.
Alexander Prokhanov, a top aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, accused Israel and the United States of training the Islamic State [ISIS] in order to threaten Moscow’s interests in the Middle East.
In an interview with Iranian state television on Sunday, Prokhanov said that ISIS is a byproduct of US policies in the Middle East. That statement alone, while critical of US foreign policy in the Middle East, could still be open to interpretation. But much more specific, inflammatory and ridiculous was his statement that Mossad agents were training ISIS fighters in Syria and Iraq.
ISIS is a Tool of the US
“ISIS is a tool at the hands of the United States. They tell the Europeans that if we [the United States] do not intervene, ISIS will cause you harm,” Prokhanov told Press TV.
“They launched their first terror attack against us just a few days back in Chechnya,” he said.
The event to which he refers happened on Thursday in Grozny, the capital of Russia’s southern province of Chechnya. Terrorists attacked a police post and stormed a building, killing 10 policemen in clashes in which 10 of the attackers also died.
In September, ISIS terrorists fresh from the conquest of the last Syrian military base in the north of the country sent a “special message” to both Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad and Putin. After taking Taqba airbase, they released a video showing the mass execution of 250 regime fighters.
In the video, a group of jihadis addressing Assad directly from inside a hangar in the base said, “You’d better watch out Bashar – we’re coming for you in planes!” One terrorist declared from atop a captured Russian aircraft, “We’ll be coming for you from the skies, with these planes, Allah willing.”
“Brace yourself for what’s coming, you pig,” he threatened.
A second, young fighter then addressed Putin, whose military and political support has been crucial in keeping Assad in power.
“Vladimir Putin, these are the Russian planes that you sent to Bashar. Allah willing, we will take them back to your own turf and liberate Chechnya and the Caucasus, Allah willing… Your throne is being threatened by us,” he said.
US and Israel Inseparable
So why blame Israel and the US for ISIS? In spite of the fact that President Obama has done more during his presidency to distance America from Israel than any other president before him, her enemies refuse to do so. Why? Because, as the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel represents the same Western values that the Arab States in the Middle East loathe in the United States.
In their eyes, Israel and the United States are one entity. Since they have to blame the attacks by ISIS on someone, Israel and the United States are as good a scapegoat as anyone else. They certainly will not blame themselves.
